FAQ
What is biofeedback?
Biofeedback involves utilizing a device that is attached to a particular muscle to indicate its functionality. In the case of Simplex/MyoPlus, biofeedback is provided by connecting either an anal or vaginal electrode, or surface electrodes, near the pelvic floor muscles. The device is capable of detecting electrical signals (electromyography – EMG) when the muscles contract. This information is then displayed through lights and a measurement of microvolts (energy). Alternatively, when connected to the software program, MyoPlus generates a visual graph on a computer screen to represent the biofeedback.
How will biofeedback help me?
Biofeedback can assist in recognizing the accurate muscle contraction and significantly enhance adherence to a muscle training program.
When can't I use biofeedback?
EMG biofeedback is only picking up electrical energy from the body, so it has no specific contraindications. The only limitations are using the vaginal or anal probe. For general contraindications (when not to use), consult the user manual.
How often should I use biofeedback thearpy?
Biofeedback serves as a valuable tool for a pelvic floor muscle exercise program. The frequency of using biofeedback is a personal preference. Ideally, it is beneficial to connect to a biofeedback device during each pelvic floor muscle workout, but this may not always be feasible. The frequency of usage varies from person to person, with some individuals incorporating it as an aid once or twice a week, while others utilize it three times a day, aligning with their exercise routine.
Does biofeedback therapy hurt?
EMG Biofeedback is designed to be non-painful. Its purpose is to detect and measure electrical signals emitted by the muscles, without administering any electrical energy to the body.
How fast can Biofeedback improve my condition?
The duration of using biofeedback for strengthening pelvic floor muscles can vary depending on the severity of the condition. It typically takes a minimum of 12 weeks to observe significant improvements.
